In 2008 Patrick Barney founded the RainMaker Media Foundation, Inc., whose purpose is to preserve and promote media arts including film, television, video and the Internet, in part by delivering an educational curriculum that will assist aspiring writers and filmmakers achieve their individual goals.
Education:
1. Establish a location in Northern Virginia for the Arts, large enough to contain classrooms, offices, edit suites, and studios for TV & Film Production.
2. Establish & deliver a curriculum for aspiring film makers, TV producers & internet project developers.
3. Acquire equipment for the production of various media projects.
Preservation:
1. Preserve and renovate the Lyric Movie Theater in Occoquan, VA.
2. Establish a Public Museum of Media History highlighting the development of Film, TV & Internet.
3. Establish & maintain a full size & functioning replica of a 1950`s Drive-in Movie Theater
Promotion:
1. Development of a Media Incubator, to educate and promote new talent & start ups in the media fields.
2. Develop an Annual Northern Virginia Film Festival to showcase the works of talented new filmmakers.
3. Establish relationships with Media Companies, Agent organizations, State Film offices and any other group that can help the Foundation & its goals.
